the audiobook is great and I like the characters a lot.

at first I thought this would be a boring read and not for me: I'm not the best with historical and do not care for ww2

but pachinko is that Bitch. I'm so invested in everyone's lives and their hardships.

now this is literature, and a welcome reprieve from Glass Sword

this is so incredibly boring. Maven carried in the first book.

no wonder people hated "Reckless", if LR also copied her homework from Aveyard in that regard 🤣

but all in all: I think this should've been a duology. Just so the author could have built more, taken their time. not do godawful exposition and accelerate the story at all the wrong moments.

now this is a memoir 💅 shari already shows so much more reflection and responsibility, even tho she was 12 at the time, now 22, than SWW and her "facebook exposé"

Wish the first 20 pages had been more "show" lead up instand of "all of the exposition in one go".

also. the 40yr old is not the love interest, I hope? because "I graduatedbwhen you were in your mother's womb" is kinda icky.

I wish she'd let a pro narrate this, and only narrate certain parts herself.

understanding she wants her voice to be heard, but the clipped way of talking is not for me

the narrator for fletcher is atrocious. not made for this. and voicing the other characters make them bland and all sound the same. Especially Mila gets butchered by that narrator.

everyone else is stellar tho

Really enjoying this!! there's action, conundrums, non linear story lines, secrets.

RFK can repeat concepts and lines without being boring or pissing me off. really looking forward to reading every day.

I do like that we're getting right to business. I just wish the romantic interest wasn't as obvious within the first 20 pages lol

this book started to be about grief, then there was magic, then witchcraft and a crazy household.

they lost me 30% in and never made sense to me since 🫠

really liked the first 18% of this. then there was a lot of religion talk and it lost me.

but!! the concept and execution so far is great. and BtDG narrating the book is an absolute win. I do have a few 'squinting my eyes' moments, but its pretty decent.

really loving it again. honestly, if the dog makes it and a character I dislike a lot dies, this is an easy 5 star.

you know when people say "for fans of this and that" and its hardly this nor that?

this is for fans of Dracula and Mexican gothic, who want a Dutch setting and some disgusting shit .

currently hoping and begging the dog makes it tho.

honestly the amount of povs keeps increasing without the horror picking up at all.
