but all in all: I think this should've been a duology. Just so the author could have built more, taken their time. not do godawful exposition and accelerate the story at all the wrong moments.

Wish the first 20 pages had been more "show" lead up instand of "all of the exposition in one go".
also. the 40yr old is not the love interest, I hope? because "I graduatedbwhen you were in your mother's womb" is kinda icky.
