I’m officially hooked. I can’t wait to see how they become a trio! 😩

I can count on one hand the number of books that I constantly thought about between the times I could keep reading them, and this one has definitely made the list.

This is turning out to be another book I can't wait to finish so I can add it to my top tier list, but at the same time, I was so glad when I realized I'm only halfway!

The audiobook is so funny. The narration is great, but all the character voices are so cartoony. The love interest sounds like a stereotypical bully from a 90’s cartoon without much distinction from the main character 😭
It would probably be a better read than listen.

If Baz doesn't drink Simon's blood by the end of this, I'm going to be massively disappointed. They have talked way too much about it for it not to happen.

It gets better every time!

No matter how many times I’ve read this book, it feels like there’s always something new to discover or piece together. The way everything has purpose is so beautifully done.

I swear, if all these moments of Baz needing Simon to welcome him into buildings is there as a lead up to when Simon will not let him in, I’m going to lose my mind.

I’m so happy to be back with these characters!

I’m really not convinced these characters are in love. In lust, 100%. There’s not been a single interaction between them that hasn’t centered around sex. It’s a fun, indulgent read, though I really don’t like Blaine. He’s pretty much as selfish as the other guy, but just disguises it as concern for Killian. Chemistry is not there when the only thoughts they have for each other are about sex.

It’s not a perfect book. There’s not a lot of tension since we don’t see much of the witches’ world or a build up of risk and stakes for the character’s choices, but it’s a fun self indulgent smut romance with magic as an excuse for the plot. Some of the character’s inner thoughts are repetitive and the sexual tension escalated way too quickly, but I’m having fun just going along with it.

This may become an annual read for me.

I can’t wait to finish this book so I can put it as number one on my Top Tier list. The character development is so good, and the happy and angsty moments in the plot are so well balanced.

I got through the main story and only have the extras left! It's fun to see how much better the author got at writing in the later books, but it was still a great read. I really like her characters and the depth she gives them.
I'll probably switch back to 2ha again since the drama's finally been given a release date and I want to finish reading before watching. But I'll be back to this one for the extras!

I really like how clever the author is with making obvious exposition into something natural by looking at it as the main character recalling events he’s already read about. It makes sense that as he’s living through events, he would think about what he knows about characters and places, so it feels less like exposition for the audience and more like the character remembering things he needs to be aware of.

This is my favorite of the series so far. It actually has fantasy elements that play a part in the plot instead of being reduced to background aesthetics. I love the concept too and how it’s being built up.

I think I’m liking some scenes more the second time through since I have information about things revealed way too late. I still really wished the story got rid of flashbacks and started when Jade entered the army so we could learn and experience things with her instead of playing catch up. The action and character driven scenes are much better than the exposition driven scenes making up a majority of the book.

I'm oddly a fan of Viridis in the way people love The Room. So I'm reading it again. There was a lot I wanted to talk about in my review I didn't get to, so I'm using Kindle notes to instead. It's a lot of fun examining this book because of all the cool concepts let down by execution and looking at the subtle reasons why things don't work. Plus the sequel's coming out soon and I'm excited.

I’m really enjoying this! The tone makes it a much lighter read than the author’s other stories so far, which may just be the fact this is the first one. But I like how you know the general idea of what’s going to happen, so it’s building interest in how it’s going to still happen that way while changing the delivery of the events and the characters’ relationships from what they’re supposed to be.

This is quickly becoming my favorite book. The pacing of the character development is really satisfying.

I’m getting close to DNFing. The writing is making it really hard to like the MC. It’s trying to make her a super cool strong and independent woman who doesn’t take crap from anyone, but she’s just a self-absorbed jerk to people just doing their job and trying to help her. If the writing was self aware, it’d be fine, but it doesn’t feel like it is.

Finally reading the one that started it all! So far it’s a lighter tone than the others from MXTX, even if the content itself is still darker. Knowing a bit about the characters, I’m excited to see how things develop.

I can’t tell if I like it or not. The way characters change their attitude and reaction to things from one sentence to the next is jarring. Confident anger one sentence, while the next is pathetic crying and begging with nothing between to make it flow. I like the general idea of what’s happening, especially because I love elves, but so far it could use some more polish.

I was excited about the Elf King because the build up to him was interesting, but it all went downhill as soon as he spoke. He’s more like a whiny HS jock than a powerful and immortal king. The fact that more than one person in the audience is challenging him and not taking him seriously immediately downplays his intimidation factor. And Luke changing means nothing when we didn’t see what he’s usually like.

I’m really early in the book, but I’m still excited about trying to piece together what’s going on. I wanna see some elves!
