I think slate can smell demons. The rosemary is their smell. She smelled it on Caliban in the cell, then later when the clocktaurs passed by them

this weekend was meh bc of the hot weather that reached 40°C perceived and I could only just read and write with my ac on. they say temp is going to lower after tomorrow. I BEG

I can't bring myself to finish this tonight bc I'm sure the last chapters are going to be full of twists and turns and I'm going to bed soon

the 39°C of today did a number to my mental health and they say it will lower around wednesday. no idea if I'll survive that long

maximus is just like all the other father villains whose name starts with max-. they think they should be given father of the year award but they are worse than the scum you'd find in a chemical bathroom

this also has silo (the tvshow) vibes btw. I thought the city-state was underground at first but it's not

the raw tension in this story is delicious and it begs me to continue but I need my bed

I rarely read dystopian bc it usually gives me anxiety and I feel the characters living in survival mode and under control so much bc that's my daily life and yet. I like the thrill of that. danger waiting in the dark. that same anxiety (or maybe it's dopamine?). because I feel something and I barely feel anything at all these days

this is such a slow burn I like it. bc usually if something happens before this point, I start to lose interest. gradual development keeps my interest :)

I like it so far. I think the inspo may be romeo and juliet if they wanted to get revenge on each other and there was magic, but also not really
the cover and the title and the magic also makes me think about kellila but anything makes me think about them if I think hard enough

the two mcs are hitting too close to home. this is something that makes me like a novel instantly. it feels like someone understands how I feel. the fears, the grief, all of it.

still no idea what to think of this... the story is entertaining but the setting and the scenes are static and lack color, if you know what I mean. aside for tiny changes, they repeat in the same manner every other chapter, and I'm tired.

my 6pm A2 students didn't come to the lesson and I find that so disrespectful. you could've told me beforehand so I would've organized my time differently.

the reason for her dismissal was weak tbh. as was that bc of that, now no school wants to hire her.
There are a lot of weak plot points in this book

the story got better and I'm liking it more but it's an okay story so far
