I am enjoying this so, so much. I wanted a tome, I got a tome. She married the fuckboy which made me sad but now she is FIXING UP THEIR PLACE which is the reason to read 90% of things.

dnf halfway through because wow this is some bad writing. My book goal this year was to actually, actively stop reading a book I'm getting nothing from, with another goal of reading all the unread books I own. So far they're embarrassingly hand in hand.

dnf at p100. Sorry to everyone reading this, I would probably? have had a different feeling about the book before reading everyone's unfathomable opinions on the show they decided they were watching when they watched Merlin but here we are, 10 years too late. This is not the book for me.

This reads like living in one of those slightly blue early 2000s romcoms. In the best possible way.

Idk, the exceptionally precocious 9yo, absolutely lacking sense of place, and something about the present tense of it all just isn't working for me. As a horror novella it would be terrifying but I haven't been looking forward to turning the pages on this one. And I was excited for it, too.

Super into this but when 95% of what the pov character is allowed to know about anyone else is their relative attractiveness and nothing else, it really is impossible as the listener to keep track of who's who

I have tried and tried and tried and here at 75% I cannot do this book anymore. Blah blah sci fi classic and I'm sure it was all very groundbreaking at the time but also it can't even conceive of the notion of ......... women

I discovered this bc I just read all of Naomi Novik's Robb/Jaimie fanfiction and when I ran out of that, went and looked up her own favourite novels. And now I'm 40 pages in and it's GREAT and also I see how this would very much be NN's thing 😂

I have tried and tried with this and I think a nonfiction telling would be devastating. But this 🤷‍♀️

God it's good to be reading something I can't put down

I would be enjoying this so much more if all the reviews didn’t make it out to be somehow a universal experience and also the first time such an experience was set to page. You know, that running away from your life and spending $20k remodelling a motel room while you cheat on your husband with the decorator's husband experience we've all had.

I had no idea this book would be so readable but oh my god it's so good

I am one third in and I love this. I LOVE THIS. I put it down to tell someone I love it and I love it so much. AHHHH.

This one, her first book, is the only one with a different audiobook reader (I checked) and it's fine. IT'S FINE

This would be a very frustrating book to read, since here at 30% nothing has happened yet, but the audiobook is thoroughly enjoyable to listen to while going about life. The writing is sly and pleasing in its observations of human absurdity; I did not enjoy The Toast but this book feels like exactly the right way for Daniel Lavery's style of writing to happen.

I was 70% through the audiobook and instead of finishing it right now, clicked return by accident. There is a 14 week waitlist. I am bereft!!!

This is such hard work but the language is sooooo good
