helen of troy im sorry about the levels of misogyny you have to endure. this is SO UPSETTING. but also loving how her and Cassandra's closeness is developing despite their mistrust of one another. this is how U do slow burn !!

i actually think this book gets stronger with each chapter. the tone of voice is easy to adjust to...loving Helen and Cassandra's tension!!! n yh it makes sense their dislike of each other at this stage. love when books don't rush a slow burn

miss Schwab you've done the unthinkable which is make me not care about vampires... the "toxic relationship across the ages" beginning 77% of the way through the book??? throwing in 100 pages of ONE PERSON'S POV...who we only just met ...truly groundbreaking

too far in to dnf...there must be a point to it all...ve Schwab please...stop this pov nonsense....it's not adding to the plot....please v e Schwab....there's genuinely only one interesting character in this......

guysss this book is sooo good I'm really enjoying it!! finally a retelling that doesn't feel as though it's trying too hard or not enough. this almost feels like a companion text to Frankenstein!! love it so much

50% of the way through this book and there has been no toxic love affair of vampires through the ages......VE Schwab do you know you have 30 minutes....

this hurts me to say but this is getting quite boring and tedious. there's far too many characters introduced for a chunk and then immediately made irrelevant. also the Scottish girl annoys me

ok sabine is the best character by far. the two randoms who got introduced were not it at all. and the Scottish girl (Alice) is so obviously written by an American it's kind of funny. im still invested btw! i want to know how everyone eventually crosses over (if they do)

ok i didn't get the audiobook with Katie Leung but here i am back home (reading a book about vampires)...the problem with having multiple povs is that the person who's life is set in the 16th century seems to be more interesting than the girl whose life is set in 2019...

reading this so i can finally watch the acclaimed series that's been on my list since it came out...Gillian Flynn's protagonists are always so sickly and prickly

this being my co worker's favourite book...i worry for her. every bit of information U learn about Eleanor just is worse than a rest. what a horrible life she's had so far and im only 56% of the way through??

it's definitely a slow start, and much less mythological than the other Scottish folkloric inspired tale I read - this is far more diverse in character though. i love the mention of native people and how they're actual characters and not just props

guys why do the best of books have such funky covers...anyways really enjoying this so far. it's moving at a good pace and I'm quite interested in the little world that's been built
