Also, I’m wondering if the author of the Yellow Wallpaper short story read this book?? A specific passage of this really reminded me of the former, gave me a chill honestly, I need to look into this more later. I’d be quite pleased if it turns out that connection exists!! I should re-read that short story while I’m at it.

Vol. 1, pg. 155. I prefer this pacing to Emily’s sister’s in Jane Eyre. It’s picked up and I’m enjoying the erudite diction and learning Middle English words!! Isabella Linton is quite goofy, Catherine is a little pot-stirrer (and sadly I find her and me have a selection of traits in common), Heathcliff makes me think of Mr. Hyde but without the disfigurement. Ellen Dean is probably best character!

THIS CONTAINS SPOILERS.

I know that the clues are words from “America the Beautiful,” so I wrote these out and isolated the ones that were not given as clues. So far, it points to Crow, from “crown,” and Otis Amber, from “amber.” But it seems too obvious and also biased as characters in the book have also pointed to that. Perhaps it is a trick of sorts, I suspect that it won’t be straightforward.

A ranting, dedicated, particular type of reader who starts series and never finishes them! I love to trash books I hate, I adore the books that change my life, my favorite characters are flesh and blood beside me.
Come along with me, through the butterflies and bees…
