gaël faye, the author, will be discussing this work at a nearby bookstore on the third. goal is to be read up and present for that!

slightly trepidatious at the level of investment this series will demand (7-part story, release of later parts is ongoing, perpetual high demand at the library), but am taking the plunge. and gradually, all those hesitations are fading into the background of how invested i am in this writing: its deliberate pace, its careful attention to the minor details that make up our perception of life.

still reading this btw. the part about the crimes is a tough read but i’m fully committed. have a bit of a history with DNFing chunky, sprawling epics when the going got rough but NOT THIS TIME!!

this one is looking like a DNF, i simply can’t keep up with it. might look into pynchon’s masterpieces down the road but this one is just too esoteric with all its turn-of-the-millennium jargon and references.

changing my reading goal for the year… I KNOW I KNOW i promise 48 was my original goal at the start of the year

well-written but very depressing. gonna need a short break from this one…

it’s time for some poetry

chipping away at my ultimate goal… reading Every Book Ever

trying out fable… although i honestly don’t like it as much…

hate that we can’t see each other’s yearly reading goals…. hate these arbitrary, impersonal reading challenges made by amazon… truly unfortunate that the company with the worst user interfaces of all time owns this site.

panicking - cramming for my year-end goal

😭😭 crap my e-reader isn’t waking up 😭😭
