There are 5☆ scenes happening, but my experience is being less enjoyable than the part 1.

I'm not sure if it's because I'm working + studying for exams at the same time nowadays (therefore I'm more tired and with less willing to read)...

...or if it's because I'm in this world for a while now (and I usually take breaks between books in the same series)

Both have interesting things going on. But please, I couldn't care less when Bran is having a wolf dream. It's always confusing and a bit boring. The rest of the POV storyline was good though

Part III: Finished. Trent was hilarious. What a caricature

I have already written 6 pages on Word for this review, and I haven't even finished this book..

I just want to say this not because this is the worst thing I've ever read: FAR from it! But bc I will need to justify its rating for the ARC and bc I've been writing things down my notes as I am reading this. The writing is elegant, and the concept is good. There were also twists that I didn't anticipate! So that's good

Reading this with a countdown feels like being held down at gunpoint

Part II was legit one of my worst nightmares: a loved one is away, and you text them, you realize that it's a stranger that's texting for them... I felt it all pretty vividly

Part I: Slow-ish start, but it's good to assert the characters we will be following. I like that.

We had the first hint of romantic "tension" and it was bad:

"You're Amelia. You saved me. Which makes everything confusing because I'm supposed to hate you."

Ok, SJM go off!!! The writing overall is well crafted and pretty, but this dialogue sounded so disjointed from the rest of the book... like what.... it's cringy.

How does that expression go...?
If I had a coin for every time I've consumed a story in which a man "baby traps" another man, I'd have two coins. Which is not a lot, but it's weird it happened twice..!

Beautiful writing, intriguing characters, and fascinating storytelling so far.

slow, slow. struggling a bit.

The writing is good, OK. It's just the characters and story that don't pull me in. It confirms that Amelia likes her stepmother... and funnily enough, this past time-line is the one I like most.

Also Malicent [Maleficent] just got ""misgendered"" as a she LOL, and probably a typo to be corrected. Maybe it's for the best this "antagonist" isn't supposed to be female, since in this ver. she'd be quite uninteresting :(
