What a good elephant

How many times will I cry (both happy and sad tears) reading this book? I’ve lost count . . . worth it. Absolutely.

Nightmare is the best character, although several others are in stiff competition. Elm and Ione have really excelled. Good character development in this one!

I get the hype. Very touching

Classism. If the admiralty had paid them maybe then they could have a say. But they didn’t and they therefore don’t have a leg to stand on imo.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m enjoying this book. But they are definitely not the most mature characters I’ve ever read. He just took her back to his room and was like, “I’d be a liar if I said it wasn’t always this untidy.” lolololol Just a little too real. They feel like kids. But maybe I’m at the age where 20 year-olds are kids?

I’m not in love with the narrator, but I am hooked by the plot! Interestingly I’ve listened to this narrator in two other audiobooks that I loved. Maybe she just doesn’t do guy voices well (the other books had male/female narrators) or maybe she’s laying it on thick here.

I love the rhyming!

“The Her-th”. The pronunciation is gonna drive me crazy.

Immediately had me hooked. Funny and relatable.

Who doesn’t cry at a good, heartfelt letter?

Just like when my dad tells a story and you get the background of your protagonist’s assistant’s older brother for context and flavor.

A chapter of excitement and now we are back to court politics. Zzzzz

You know, maybe our current day and age isn’t so bad after all.

I appreciate that this girl is just as clueless in exactly 1 way as she was at 14. But in every other way she is marvelous and clever.

Girl. I’d let that boy die. I would not go out of my way to save him.

A well done 14 year old girl. Clever but also foolish in just the right ways. Not annoying at all. It makes me feel quite fond.

Jaxon and Kent are grade A people/characters. I love them already.

Oh I think I have a thing now for “the house is Alive”. Excellently creepy ambiance. I’m hooked.

I really like Sen. Give me all the female protagonists who cut like a knife.

Art is nothing for people with armor; you need a thin skin. But someone like that isn’t only sensitive to beauty, but to everything. Seeking out euphoria is a life out of balance.

I’m so locked in to this story! So many good twists and turns.
