If this is going in the direction I think it is, all the slow-moving plot will have been worth it. Don't get me wrong, it's very good, but character progress is felt very little each time I put it down.

This book is boring as fuck. Even when I'm enjoying it, I'm kind of just waiting for it to be over. However, that might be a translation issue because the part that makes it so boring is mostly the writing style and sentence structure.

Deirdre is astonishingly good at everything except making good choices. Also, the way this jumps right into the plot is crazy and feels like I accidentally picked up the sequel first???

I'm not even that far in, and this is pissing me off. I might keep reading it just because none of my other holds at the library are ready yet & I've read all the stuff I own, but I'm anticipating not finishing this. Maybe I just have really specific taste or something. Idk

I have a feeling I won't like this one. The physicality is confusing. I can't picture any of it without pausing to think really hard about how the descriptions impact the setting and character's bodies. They aren't structured in a way that feels natural.

Not exaggerating when I say that every time I think this series couldn't get better, it does. I honestly thought Frisk had a chance at being my favourite, but Try means a lot to me, and I get super emotional every time I pick it up

I wish this was one of those books that had information on the typesetting in the back because it's very unique from his other books. I really adore how every one of his novels I've read has a different style, and not just between how they're written. Super interesting, as I'm a big fan of playing with format and style

Fuck this book. Genuinely. What do you mean the twist completely fucks over the entire reason I was reading it. I'm actually so pissed.

I just think it's trying to do too much at once. I had hoped I would really love this book, but it's honestly pretty mid. Definitely won't be finishing the series once I'm done with this one.

If the story doesn't start focusing on the Architects in the next 100 pages, I probably won't keep reading this series. I went into this book for fucked up alien wars, NOT found family heist shenanigans.

I love when an author can't shut the fuck up. I actually do want you to tell me every possible detail about the world you created. How'd you know?

I feel like the only person in the whole world who has read this book because what are the odds I'll run into someone who has? And what are the odds they'll admit to having read it? And what are the odds they'll even want to talk about it? And what are the odds they'll have loved it the way I do?

I'm already halfway through, and I already know that this is in my top 3 of Dennis Cooper's work.

Maybe picking this up as my first audiobook in a year was a bad idea because why is this girl talking about the same 5 things for 2 hours straight. I thought I had to be only 30 minutes deep, but no.

Least zombie-filled zombie book ever. Also, they're called "unconsecrated." What a stupid mouthful.

I'm losing steam a little because these aren't really science fiction at all. Most of them fall into the broader speculative fiction and are not really to my tastes :((

What Has Passed Shall in Kinder Light Appear - Baoshu

This story was long & refreshing after a landslide of shorter stories in this collection. It was neat to see history played out in reverse order. China has such a rich political history, so I really enjoyed the focus on revolution. It had a very stream of consciousness style that made the story feel very nostalgic. Minus points for being alternate history again.

Under a Dangling Sky - Cheng Jingbo

You can tell from this story alone that the author writes children's books. It felt like a fairytale I've never heard before with beautiful imagery. The writing throws you right into the story with little explanation, and it works wonderfully!

A silly little story, though I question whether I'd really call it science fiction. It's more like a historical rewrite that had little relevance to anything.

Submarines - Han Song

A short and beautiful story told from the perspective of a young boy who doesn't understand the mysterious group of impoverished people or the discrimination they face in his community. It's painfully realistic that the adults try to keep things hush hush while the children's fascination grows. So far, my favourite in this collection!
