Pilgrim's prayer interpretation fascinating as a juxtaposition to catholicism. also assessing the characters' disarray as a consequence of orientalism. when you separate a practice/action/aesthetic from its material roots, it becomes appropriated. interesting how the pilgrim searched tangibly and then learned with a teacher. an immersed, materially physical faith. not a salvation from self importance

i was thinking casey is so male centered it frustrates me and couldn’t really tell whether that was intentional (i mean her given name isn’t even mentioned all of the first act, she only goes bu what the boys call her), but now she’s meeting with her female advisor who is pointing out that she hasn’t really interacted with work by female authors HAHA

last night I re-read the essay “Uses of Anger: Women Responding to Racism”. stirred something in me as I feel myself becoming more cynical and angry in recent months. it’s powerful to revisit text at different points in your life and let it act as a mirror
