the organization of this book is very effective & the recency of the examples used is ever important. internationally, gentrification gets written off too easily in modern liberalism because of a lack of attention to its actual consequences and causes. Lee’s analyses are well informed and are easily applicable to what any reader can see in their own cities—for me, Austin and Dallas

i was so entertained by the first 40 pages, since then i've just been thinking this would probably be a more entertaining screenplay or something. the humor is starting to fall flat for me which is disappointing bc i started off snickering out loud!!! maybe i'll just need to read at a later time too

i've been inhaling this book like crack on the bus and in between plans, only thing i'm capable of reading atm. gf and i are experiencing lots of change recently so it's a nice recentering read for me while we're not able to spend as much quality time together as we used to. i used to email her from my work laptop with modern love stories the summer we started dating, so she gifted me this from the nyt store in nyc.
