Flying through this because I am currently very into the diabolical mind games that Talia Hibbert mixes into romantic novels.

Why does every woman who speaks about working hard, starting from below the bottom and making it to a respectable place, also talk about all the men who harassed and abused her mentally and physically along the way? (Some terrible women, too.)

Why can't men just leave people alone? If the only way you can "influence" my career is by telling people how you took advantage of my body - are you really worth anything?

It's a pity that it's taking me so long to read through this, because it's an interesting story.


There's an account of sexual assault that I was not prepared to read. But that's the life of a woman: you can be going along, minding your business -- and then you're violated.

This one is very slow going.

I am not sure how it is going to end (but I know how I want it to end) but I am invested. It reads like the best episodes of your favourite Black primetime drama. So, so good!

This is... not as exciting as I thought it would be. But it is putting a notch in the pro column for going back to study...

At first, I could see where Nora was coming from. Eldest child syndrome and the trauma of losing a parent.

But I also feel like she has just never taken the time to think about all that and be better. She's just been pushing it all down and making it part of her personality. In modern day New York? It just doesn't seem likely that she could have gone this long without intervention. It's frustrating to read.

I don't know if I have said this before, but please can the protagonists of these books at least consider therapy?

She's sabotaging her own life because she is under the impression that she doesn't deserve good things -- and that's because she didn't go to therapy after her mother died.

Banter between Nora and Charlie is hot as ever, though.
