At first, I could see where Nora was coming from. Eldest child syndrome and the trauma of losing a parent.

But I also feel like she has just never taken the time to think about all that and be better. She's just been pushing it all down and making it part of her personality. In modern day New York? It just doesn't seem likely that she could have gone this long without intervention. It's frustrating to read.

I don't know if I have said this before, but please can the protagonists of these books at least consider therapy?
Geez.
She's sabotaging her own life because she is under the impression that she doesn't deserve good things -- and that's because she didn't go to therapy after her mother died.

Banter between Nora and Charlie is hot as ever, though.

Nora has a lot of trauma and needs serious therapy. (Same.)
