I just finished A Memory of Elephants: An Inspector McLean Mystery (Inspector McLean Mysteries Book 6) and gave it 5 stars.

Surprisingly good alternate history of 20th century USA. Well written, well researched. I saw the adaptation of his prequel "Abraham Lincoln Vampire Slayer" and while it was humorous wasn't greatly impressed ( though that might have been the effect of watching at 35,000 feet while tired, cramped and having fellow passengers drool on me). Hence the surprise to be enjoying this.

I've read all the volumes ( think three out so far) in The Mickey Bolitar series. Somewhere one of the covers mentioned this was for "young adults". If I had known that I wouldn't have read, but it has raised my estimation of the series from 2 stars to 3. For adults, a light quick read but not brilliant.

This looks to be a cracking read, a bit more demanding than the potboilers I've been reading recently but ultimately more rewarding. In the little I've read so far, there seem to be 3-4 separate tales, am intrigued how they will come together. Enjoying the humorous writing style too.
