A quick cute read so far

Super cute book. Reminded me a lot like the movies, but I have a feeling that as the series progresses that’s going to change, and I’m excited to see where those differences lie.

Some small deviations from the movie so far, but not many. It’s cute. Very nostalgic.

All very sweet book, I don’t think I would’ve had the will to finish it if I wasn’t so stubborn. All of my siblings have loved little women for years. All of the books. And maybe at another time I would have, but the writing style is beautiful yet drawn on, many of the characters are flat, and there’s too many bows tied up. It’s some of the same problems I have with Charles Dickens, another classic. Not for me.

I know that we’re supposed to like me’s relationship, but I feel really sad for her. She has to pretend so much, for his sake, fainting interest in order to have anything to talk about. In contrast, I really enjoy Amy’s romantic life, with Fred and Laurie. It’s not from lack of choices or pity. They truly grow together after Beth’s death, realizing each other as adults. It’s very sweet.

Apparently “Part 1” is this book, “Part 2” is Little Wives. So I’ll just give future tea in the next review.

I’m enjoying it a lot more. Made a lot more progress, choking some of it down but enjoying other storylines. Jo still bugs me, though she’s tender with Beth. Amy doesn’t seem that “spoiled” but more lonely, feeling a pressure of her own creation to support the family, and it’s laughed at by her siblings. It’s kind of sad. Also I was kind of bored by the Jo NYC chapter. Laurie is so predictable. A man.

I’m on page 431, but I think I’m reading a different copy. Still 376 pages to go. It’s okay. Amy seems a bit frivolous but they’re all kind of mean to her about it, judging her. She’s the only ones whose interests get that kind of reaction. If that family cats are my birthday dinner before my friends came over and everyone just laughed, I’d be pissed too.

I’ve had to force myself to read this book and intervals between reality TV. Some pieces drag on. Others like Beth’s illness and Meg’s crush gave me a bit to hold onto, but I just don’t think I’m into the writing style. Plus, out of all the sisters, Joe annoys the sh*t out of me. No one is allowed to love Beth “as much as her” or grow up “without her.” Girl, get over yourself. It’s not all about you.

I liked these chapters. I think I’m getting deeper into the meat of the book. But I would be remiss without saying that I do think the movie has colored my opinions. I don’t think it would have flowed as well if I didn’t already understand what was going on. I don’t think I would’ve understood the characters as much, if I wasn’t already aware of their story trajectory. There’s an old slowness creating a wall.

Oh the beginning of Jo and Laurie. Cute.

Loved this book. The present-day info was a bit rushed, but I think that’s just because she went into such detail on her memories. You don’t realize what’s important until looking back sometimes. Great read. A book I’ll be keeping on my shelf.

I’m enjoying this book so much. Her life so interesting and all over the place, but real. The detail on food and cultural context makes it so much more rich. I’m excited every time I sit down to read it.

This is literally the sweetest book. She has the coolest life, doing so many trips and odd jobs before even graduating college. This is the kind of life that people want to read about, and I’m so excited that I am.

This book right now is such a cute time capsule of meeting Jeffrey. Excited to see where it goes throughout her life.

I’m so disappointed with this book. It was so good, slow burn, with a hint of romantic and depressive. But I kept reading and nothing happened. Then everything did all at once, the court case, abbreviated, their whole actual relationship abbreviated. Chess comes back with no explanation. Getting towards the end, I was worried there was a sequel. Maybe there should’ve been. Felt extremely rushed, and ruined it. Sad.

Finally a good book! I’m having so much fun with this read.

I keep forgetting to read until it is dark in the middle of the night, which sucks because I’m actually enjoying this book. I want to sit down and make time for it. It’s cute and I like all the characters and I like their relationships and I see drama brewing. I have high hopes.

Getting me in my feels.

In an unusual turn of events, this book had a twist beginning. What I foresaw as the main arc became the exposition. I like the characters and their relationship. I’m actually excited to see how the rest goes.

Another bad, then okay, then meh romcom book. Ugh! I was hoping to get my mojo back before the end of the year, but thinking I might just be too critical. I didn’t like any of the tropes this book used. The kidney transplant. The secret family. The military drama. Honestly, friends lovers is one of my least favorite tropes, and that was not as bad as the rest of the book. Really cheesy. Just not for me.

I’m like in a lot more. The conversations between the guys are really sweet and nuanced. The kidney situation still bothers me, but she’s acting less annoying. The actual romance is sweet. Excited to read more.

I am remembering that I didn’t actually like this series very much. It was cute in concept, but in actuality it’s kind of bad writing and tire some troops. The whole secret family lost kidney trope. Friends to lovers trope. I’m reading it so quickly, but more because I’m skimming and not caring. We’ll see if that changes.
