Lilli is finished with Crazy Stupid Bromance (Bromance Book Club, #3)
Another bad, then okay, then meh romcom book. Ugh! I was hoping to get my mojo back before the end of the year, but thinking I might just be too critical. I didn’t like any of the tropes this book used. The kidney transplant. The secret family. The military drama. Honestly, friends lovers is one of my least favorite tropes, and that was not as bad as the rest of the book. Really cheesy. Just not for me.

I’m like in a lot more. The conversations between the guys are really sweet and nuanced. The kidney situation still bothers me, but she’s acting less annoying. The actual romance is sweet. Excited to read more.

I am remembering that I didn’t actually like this series very much. It was cute in concept, but in actuality it’s kind of bad writing and tire some troops. The whole secret family lost kidney trope. Friends to lovers trope. I’m reading it so quickly, but more because I’m skimming and not caring. We’ll see if that changes.

Everyone knows that I love a book that has a little bit of romance. Once they introduced one, it just felt better. Sue me. I like complex relationships. In general, the entire book felt like a biography about a vacuum cleaner, which is not the most interesting, but at the end when it became more about the grandmother, it was heartfelt. Not bad. 2 stars.

I’m not quite sure if it’s good, that interesting, or I like it, but I’m going to continue. Sara said I’m crazy. The book is a style that I haven’t read in a while and about a topic I don’t know much about, and although I’m having a meh time, I feel compelled to read it. So I will. I’m already halfway through anyway.

Meh. I’m learning a lot, but there’s not a lot going on. He keeps bringing it back to the vacuum and I’m like — I get it. I’m not loving it. I might stop, but I wanna give it another little push. We’ll see.

Not at all what I was expecting. First of all I misread, and it’s written from a man’s perspective. And it’s in the Middle East, not America. I want to get a better grasp of the book before I make a real opinion.

This book was very cute. Visibility is important. But the relationships progress didn’t feel very authentic. I needed more relationship building, less we’re gallivanting around the world.

I really like both of the characters and the concept, but each of the times the characters expressed their feeling more emotionally invested, I can’t feel how they got there. I see the conversation, but I don’t understand the investment, so it feels a little fast and in authentic. I hope that the connective scenes get stronger, so I can be let in a little more.

Throughout the book, I really enjoyed both characters and how multifaceted they were. But, considering that, I hate second chance, romances, and friends to enemies to lovers troops. I don’t know if their problems were as easily solvable as the book made it out to be. Overall, a good Hanukkah book. Not as great as the Matzo Ball.

I’m highly intrigued. I’m a little unsettled. The Jared Sparks character is crazy. There’s been some cute moments and banter, some emotional growth, but also lots of unnecessary details and oddities. I’m not sure I’m fully in it. I’m trying. We’ll see.

I like the characters so far, the premise is unique, but don’t think it’s gotten its footing yet. We’ll see.

Cute so far. The whole exposition has already happened in just 30 pages, so that was little unexpected. Not completely unrealistic, but also very far-fetched. It’s campy. Let’s hope it’s good.

Was liking their dynamic throughout the office scenes and set-up dates, but ironically when they actually get together it feels inauthentic. Not enough dialogue, too much in her head. Hopefully that changes, but so sad. Alas.

I like it a bit more. Sat with it for a good chunk. The girl’s boss is crazy. Don’t know why she puts up with it. Don’t understand why everyone is swooning over this guy either. He seems sweet but not a complete Adonis a la “the most eligible bachelor in town” vibes they’re illuding to. Like, calm down. Excited to get more of their dynamic, since apparently they have a backstory. Not a friends-to-lovers girl though.

Lilli is finished with How to Get a Life in Ten Dates
The book got better, and then worse. I actually liked the relationship that was supposed to distract us from the main pairing better than the actual main pairing. I think the whole Hawaii story is atrocious. Like I wouldn’t even be friends with the guy, never mind, entertain, dating him after that. In general, I don’t like the way they interact with each other. I won’t be recommending this book or reading it again.

This wasn’t at all what I thought it was by the title. More for married couples and people having struggles within their marriage. It was interesting enough to skim a little bit.

The book was cute enough. Three stars. I read it. I was excited to read more. But more because it seems like it was getting better, and it started off not great. I liked the male lead, the woman really annoyed me. That didn’t really change throughout the book, but their romance was endearing. I wish they had ended up together after the wedding. It all felt very rushed after that.

OK, so far. I don’t particularly like either of the main characters, but I see their chemistry. I hate this sister, as I’m supposed to. But the main character is supposed to be 26, though she says she doesn’t “understand the way Gen Z murder podcast thing” and references being a millennial, which is not true, so that pulled me out. Just some outdated language and references. You can just tell the author is older.
