Love KSR, but this one was not quite as inventive or captivating as some of his other stories (the Mars trilogy, for example). But it was still intriguing, so I might have finished it if not for being interrupted a few days into the 2 week loan by getting notified that my 2 week loan of Dungeon Crawler Carl was ready.

Not for me.

Good overall, but I only had a 2 week loan, and couldn’t quite get into a fast paced rhythm. The disparate stories and timelines will obviously connect at the end, but the gap between them didn’t create an urgency or excitement to finish the story. I’d probably eventually finish if I had more time.

It’s very well written and has some very entertaining segments, but it’s like a series of vignettes or seemingly disparate stories spanning different time periods. I got about 1/4 through, and might have eventually finished if my borrow time was more than 2 weeks—I just didn’t have that thirst to read through as I have with other books. I bet there’s a great payoff and eventual connection between stories

Liked it but didn’t have time to finish. I had nose surgery and the job change. Feb/March 2026

Borrowed from the library

Borrowed from the library. Got about 50 pages into it, but it’s just not my style. I liked Seveneves, but this feels like a completely different author. The story is…okay so far? Maybe I should ride it out and see if it improves. I might revisit this later
