Kathy is on page 100 of 467 of Tsarina
Growing up poor, in hard conditions, being raised by a resentful stepmother and an indifferent father is the backdrop where Tsarina's story begins. I just started listening to this fascinating story of how a girl of meager beginnings rose to power to rule Russia.

Started this book a couple days ago. Listening on Hoopla. What I don't get: if someone has threatened to kill you and is currently hunting you down, wouldn't you go to the police... like first? That's my first hummm what's up with this moment with this story. Probably coming, right? Definitely a YA book.

Kathy is starting Morning Star (Red Rising Trilogy, #3)
This series has been a wild ride. This series is about the struggle to break the chains slavery and class divisions. In the future groups of people are identified and divided into colors, it's a pecking order and the lower colors are kept under the thumbs of the elites, the "golds". Battles, attacks, bloodshed, constant conflict..My excitement about this series is waning, I'm feeling battle fatigue.

I am a fan of Sarah J. Maas, thoroughly enjoyed her Throne of Glass Series. I also enjoy the first 2 books in this series, but with this 3rd book I just became bored, I needed a break.

This intense, tragic story kept me up late last night reading. Don't you so enjoy it when you find a book that captures you, keeps you turning the pages, not wanting to be distracted, or rushed, I know I do.

I have to hand it to Henry, multiple abductions and he seems to take it all in stride, kind of like he's off to the dentist to get another cavity filled, no big deal, just annoying and inconvenient. That I didn't get. I'm still trying to figure out how this got rave reviews. I don't like how this story is developing, don't care for all the vulgarity, back to the library with you little book.

OMG, so much dialog, it's like I'm lost in the woods, going around in circles.

So sorry Craving I'm ditching this series. Just too too much of shades of sex for my taste.

I was hopeful that after an interesting start, that the first book in this series would keep up a good pace, but immediately it began descending. I really wanted the story line to take off, I am mostly just following coddled, pampered, headstrong princesses who do not understand the value of being discrete or making wise decisions. I miss you "Throne of Glass" series.

I'm on a journey with Astrid. She is a sensitive, quiet girl, she knows how to lay low, stay out of the way, not have needs. Astrid has lived in the shadow of her mother, a great beauty, a mother who calls her own shots and is a force to be reckoned with and she is the moon and the stars to Astrid. Left to navigate alone in the world, her journey is heartbreaking. A well developed story that is hard to put down.

Flying through this story, it keeps my attention and it is so refreshing to again have a book that has captured me. That's the good news. The not so good news is the story line has brought in super-natural entities. I thought the story was moving along nicely with a strong plot, I have a feeling it will start getting messy for me now, messy and too complicated and I'm apt to move on to another read. We'll see.

This is the second book in the series. The style of writing reminds me a lot of the Maze Runner, a series that captivated me many a long night. I don't know why some of us enjoy the apocalyptic genre as much as we do, like any avid reader, it's finding one well written and if it's well written we don't just want one book, but a series...and authors don't dilly dally your readers are waiting, waiting.....

Just imagine being thrust into a deadly situation, with no resources and no possibility of escape. Now times that by 10 and you'll have an inkling of what this poor girl is going through. When I look for excuses to find a quiet place to hide and read it's a pretty good sign the book is good and moves at a good pace. I do find I have to reread passages over at times because of the way the author writes, not a big deal

What I am enjoying is the author's ability to capture the climate of the court. The anxieties of the main characters fearing being burned at the stake. I can almost feel the heaviness of the elaborate gowns, feel the resentment over the shallow whims of a spoiled queen, the lack of control over ones fate, the prying eyes and ears at court. Can I go read now?

This is the third book in this series. Laini Taylor again weaves a tale that I find myself searching for snippets of time in my day to hide and read. I have given up keeping up with her cast of monsters, there's just too dang many, they just fill the stage anyway. It's her main characters that keep me coming back for more.

Kathy is reading Perfectible Animals (BioGenesis #1)
This is my first Kindle book and totally enjoying, but it might take me a while to finish. I want to only indulge myself while I'm on the bike at the gym, or waiting in a long line at the market, or in waiting room....I guess this book is reserved for my waiting times, except for my biking times...and maybe my must treat myself to a chapter time....hmmmm wonder if a chapter is better that chocolate.

This read started out great, drew me right in, then it coughed, sputtered, and fell on the floor in a huff. I think the author got lost in the characters. Let me expand... heroine took a step, handsome rescuer slide his hand through his hair, heroine signed, handsome breathed.....Pleeeease, I don't want to know every moment, every thought. It should not take pages to cover only a couple mundane hours. Step it up!

This book has got to start having more guts to it. Not princess, sent packing, lives with grouchy poor aunt, goes from riches to rags....and is semi okay about this. Pa-leeeease author, develop a story with more umph! (note: not a speller just a reader)

Okay, it's pretty obvious Violet is going to embrace what she is and I'm pretty sure she is going to hook up with Lincoln. Now that I've established that, COME ON ALREADY. Really getting quite tired of the heroine(?) making herself into a pathetic victim..."oh he lied to me," get over it already!
