TV as a physical process, a thing in the home/family band that forces acknowledgement, beams information into you willing or not.
Assemblages, bands and borders. Names referring to the border, which is itself moving, constantly being re or undefined by the anomalous.
Cessation of cause, of head, but not of agency or subjective experience.
A way of seeing l I’ll have to marinate in for a while.

The middle part is surprisingly good! Carlyle and the Blacklaw talking about god, good stuff! These books are best when they are talking about god or government, weakest when talking about philosophy writ large (ethics, philosophy of history) and about society (gender, history directly)

Dialogue is sometimes hard to parse. Other than that, gripping off the bat.

- theory-fiction: fiction as inherently theoretical, mot just a theoretically interesting reading
- Gothic Materialism: [supra]mundane nonhuman aliveness
- animism vs machinism
- the gothic as the BwO
- cybernetics as self-improving & reproducing nonhuman life

Ragebait. Only reason why I’m finishing is for a friend. Prose sucks, narrator sucks, tone is inconsistent, every description is just “their eyes look kinda Asian”, every sci-fi investigation here is better done in other books, this belongs on AO3. Redeeming qualities are that the world is interesting enough for me to want to know more. Ideology Syndicalism, and what it would take to sustain that.

Not for me. I appreciate the themes discussed and do done it occasionally helpful, like the big list of things codependents do, the slow way the book introduces the concept to prevent you from raising your guard, or the examples of codependent lives. What I don't like is how un-concrete a lot of the advice is. Just become less dependent!

anotherai is reading Everyday Zen: Love & Work
A thoughtful meander that gets across the core tenets of zen in both content and form.

The book switches in style often, from memories to student-teacher transcriptions. There’s the basics of meditation, there is some history, and there’s examples of the eightfold path.

It’s short and easy to read, if you like zen or buddhism or reading personal thoughts you’ll definitely enjoy it.

Weirdly simplistic, like spending a whole page to explain what an integral is.
