Starting to feel like I’ve read this book before. I enjoyed the book back then and learnt a bit more about how slavery worked and in particular, that black people were also slave owners. I will continue with this book.

I can’t put this down!

Gripped by this story so far. I had a feeling that it would emerge that Walter started to abuse Roxy when she was 15 and she was jealous that Erin wasn’t receiving the same treatment so she lashed out at Erin. But when she realised that it wouldn’t do her any good taking it out on Erin she ran away. Not quite sure what the deal is with Erin only eating baby food though. Hmm.

I decided to give up on this book. After reading more than half of the book I still felt nothing for any of the characters, didn’t know quite what was going on as I kept falling asleep while reading. Absolutely awful. Did not finish. Gave it to the charity shop.

Can’t say I’m enjoying this book. Characters seem to be introduced all over the place and I don’t understand their relevance. Doesn’t seem to be any real plot here. It’s just not really holding my attention or sticking in my brain.
