ligaya’s whole segment is so personal to me… i know what it’s like to live in anger and chai captured that concept of an angry daughter so beautifully :^)

Rereading this and I completely forgot that a huge chunk of the book involved the narration of WWII... Chai's in-depth storytelling of how it felt to live through the war and overhearing [now] historical events that happened in real time through mere conversations or radios is excellent. You feel that immersion of doubt, fear, hatred, and even empathy that comes from Emma and Alfonso when talking about the Japanese.

Reading it page by page but I’ll be absorbing all of it soon :P so far I love Bly’s imagery

i went on a reading slump bc of acads and then i actually CHOSE to pickup the catcher in the rye to procrastinate on studying... cant believe holden caulfield has this effect on me

pages 99-100 are currently the only two pages where i find holden tolerable rn... and its all about his psycho-discussion on God

LITTLE SHIT?? literally lying to someone’s mother right now what the hell is wrong with him

oh this is endearing and sad at the same time :( the bar for teenage boys is so fucking low can Holden get buff or something then beat up boys like Stradlater

very interesting that this is the second book ive read this month where the opening chapters talks about the sarcastic protagonist getting constantly kicked out (and is about to be kicked out right now) [thumbs up]
