Finished Nyssen’s Vita Gregorii. Not too remarkable, though helpful to know his life (one I feared I would have to translate!), and to see how Nyssen subverts the genre of funeral oration as a Christian.

One chapter in and already feeling deep shame, a good sequel for support group of the compulsively distracted

Finally seeing someone express many of my thoughts that I’ve hoped would lead to my dissertation. Now, the only fear is whether it nullifies my project!

I’m currently studying with Dr. Demoen and have found him incredibly helpful! This first time I skimmed this dissertation, I thought I detected a kindred spirit to my project. After meeting with him, my suspicion was confirmed! I’m looking forward to learning much from this classicist perspective.
