I think I have to put this one down for now. I can't shake the feeling that Ava is not real and because that's my assumption after only a chapter I can't focus on the rest of the book.

I'm over half way and so far there is a lot of fascinating information, but I am finding myself just a bit bored.
The blurb says it's "sweeping, impassioned, and ultimately full of hope," but I have yet to reach the hopeful part.

I think I'm going to stop here. It's OK so far, but I just finished Mr. Wrong Number and I don't think I'm in the mood for another quirky/clumsy FMC vs rich, good-looking, a-hole MMC so soon.

The kids are intrigued by the idea of an alternate universe even though they don't really understand what it is.

I'm still struggling with the dialogue. There are so many sentences that contain "...". It's distracting.
"Maybe if we... translate more of the code...?"
"Finn? We've got good news..."

I'm reading this out loud to my kids (ages 10 & 8) and they are enjoying it. Most chapters leave off with an interesting tidbit that makes them want me to continue reading.
I, personally, am quite tired of the dialogue. The redundant conversations (both internally and externally) may make the book easier for younger kids to understand, but I feel like it's just extending the book by an unnecessary 100 pages.

Didn't like the MCs family. Not sure what the point of including them was. We could have just dropped them and Ferris entirely and just had a lot more from Savannah and Will.

Also, there was never any doubt that the mystery editor was Will.

It's taking me quite a while to get through this book. I find I'm looking at it as more of a chore than something I actually want to read. I keep going back to check the reviews to give me encouragement to continue, but here I am again wondering why I'm reading a detailed account of a pedophile.

I really liked the descriptive writing in the beginning, but now that I'm half way through I'm starting to skim pages in order to get to the point. I'm finding myself a bit bored and I'm excited to be finished with the book, but for all the wrong reasons.

I'm so tired of the main character's insecurities about EVERYTHING and I'm outraged that she won't stand up for herself to Mrs. Danvers!
