Realized too late this is book one of a series. Annoying. Some definite homage to the movie Contact (or to the book?)

Still just really gob-smacked by this, fantasizing about what a gorgeous play or film it could be. Eager to see where it goes. If this continues to be so attractive, I may have to check out her other books.

Back to continue and finish this one. Decided not to return to start over because the delightfully rococo language is a lot of work, so not remembering what happened in the first couple chapters except Anne and Anna conversing in a rococo white bedroom about not sure what and it's a New Year's Eve masquerade during the 20th century

Several chapters ago I began to warily perceive where the book was going to go, and hoped it would not. Continual indicators continued to indicate that eventually would in fact eventually play out. I was disappointed. But then it was done so exceptionally, I changed my mind about my disappointment. Then there was an extremely disappointing encounter with a nun that almost killed the awesomeness that preceeded it.

Just finished what I consider The Chapter of The Book. Murray is such a wild and fun character; not sure if I'd tolerate him in person. People who make academic, philosophical assertions without regard for whether they're really true or not have been known to annoy me. I'm curious to see Don Cheadle in the role; he's not what I pictured. Driver nor Gerwig match my images either. Does it matter? Maybe.

Passed the long chapter on the Toxic Cloud Event. Perfectly enjoyable chapter, but the short chapters are better for my distractibility.

Can't help wondering if/how pandemic and its effect on employment might alter the author's predictions interpretations and conclusions

Well I'm all caught up in the intrigue now. Well-crafted plotting so far. Nice use of language though a little less than brilliant or charming, and cadence a little droney like a story-reader on This American Life, a pet-peeve of mine. Mrs Richardson the new Mrs. Robinson?
