I'm doing a master of theological studies just out of curiosity, and to argue for trans Jesus.

I'm in an Ojibwe class and it's the most complex language morphologically I've ever encountered. They...they have different cases and conjugations based on if the noun is animate or inanimate... lol but this book has been a real help with clarification! It also doesn't help that Im living in Ottawa county and there are no Ojibwe groups... Maybe Foucault was right about the brainwashing (residential?) schools lol

He's Freuds nephew, and was one of the first to systematically implement psychoanalytic techniques for war and commercial use. He started in ww1 propaganda, and then turned that same mechanism inwards for United Fruit Company, now Chiquita, to run a communist campaign on Guatemala's gov which incited public opinion enough to justify u.s. military intervention on the behalf of his fruit company. Father of advertising

13th century mystic woman wrote this kind of stuff "You are the feelings of love in my desire. You are a sweet cooling for my breast. You are a passionate kiss for my mouth. You are a blissful joy of my discovery.
I am in you and you are in me. We could not be closer, For we two have flowed into one" about God without being burned alive. Her work was latter transcribed by the church. Heavily erotic

Been listening to the audiobook version all day. It's quiet possibly the most violent book I've ever read, up there with Tender is the Flesh in terms of graphic descriptions & bloodlust. However, the plot is juxtaposed to a beautiful, poetic and philosophical writing style. Lets you pounder Bible passage spit in your face, platonic form of bone cracking on floor, erythrocyte sunset setting light atop scalped skulls

It's historical-fiction set in the early bronze age Eurasian steppe. Follows a group of young boys on their "koryos", where they are separated from the clan and given nothing but wolf pelts to wear while they raid neighboring clans. This period lays out the origins of later civilizations myths and norms; werewolfs, soldier-citizens, Romulus and Remus, Greek and Hindu cow sacrifice, all stem from this ancient culture

There appears to be a limit to how well you can do at chess from just playing high a lot. Plateaued at 2150 in one minute games for like six months now so I should actually probably pay attention to theory again.

Made a Patreon for poetry, sci-fi stories, erotica, sometimes philosophical rants, I'm working on. If any of y'all bookworms are interested. It's half poverty, half maybe this will motivate me to actually be consistent with writing cuz I've piled like 5 half baked books over the years. Expect 2-3 chapters a month, and random poetry and though as well.

Back on this because reality appears to be collapsing again and the apes are crafting religions and myths again to explain away and give narrative sense to the existential torment of being accidentally conscious on a space rock, where every symbol that makes us feel is an illusion of our own making and a drug

Lol the oil they burned in the Tabernacle/Temple has cannabis. Spice-Cane, is translated "Indian Cane" in Greek, aka cannabis or hemp XD

The cosmology of this group is fascinating, and the afterlife features a beer volcano and a stripper factory. Its pretty damn good so far.

Recently I had a transcendental experience. My workplace, run by petite bourgeoisie middle-classers, requires a certain beard "length" for "optimal performance" (No, I don't work for Viagra). Recognizing the fascistic drive towards bodily control alongside a hyper-fixation on "cleanliness", I knew I had to act. I contacted the reddit atheists and was armed with a sacred letter exempting me from shaving. Now I read.

The writing is intoxicating and absorbing, but that's also it's biggest flaw. I get lost in the stream of consciousness and miss the plot, events just start folding in on each other. Trying to read this in the morning and not remembering what's going on is the literary equivalent of being blackout drunk, forgetting someone sold you acid, and then waking up later tripping- this book feels like that wtf, oh ok, moment

Its his earlier works, so they're more long winded; but at the same time he's less abashed about making his influences obvious, there's several philosophical concepts he explores right out the bat, from Freud, Lacan, and Deleuze. I picked up traces of these in his books before, especially Annihilation with the psychoanalytic themes, but here he makes them clear I think (if you know what to look for).

I know this version translates instead of transliterates the Greek and Hebrew, but they should also translate and transliterate the Canaanite too. It reads different when x begot y from Beth-El, makes it sound like just a place but it's ancient Canaanite for House of God, so a temple is implies. Babylon (Bābilim, bab-el) "gate of god", it makes it clear the early characters believed in the Canaanite pantheon

Everytime I open this book it kills me how he thinks the male-male warrior relations and the male-apprentice pederastic relations in the ancient world were platonic lol.
In any case it's an interesting perspective on internalized homophobia- a gay man writing about the "weakness" of the modern world and how it "effeminized" him.
Don't understand the critiques of his writing style, he's mocking university writing.

"An important part of Nietzsche's philosophy is thus shaped by this conviction that it is wrong to identify truth with the Symbolic, that truth should be related to the Real. This is precisely why truth can be dangerous to life: the Symbolic is the shelter of life, whereas the Real is its exposure and vulnerability."

He's trying to set up a journey out of Plato's cave which then goes back in, and uses this as a metaphor for how truths function in relation to the absolute/real, and essentially tries to outline dialectical movement from truths of narrative and perception, to beyond them into the absolute, back into the subjective where the absolute necessarily arises out of the contradictions and incompleteness of the subjective.

Life formed from lightening strikes, oppressive depths, ect. Alongside the bashing of rocks the inorganic turned organic. These organisms then evolved and grew in endless attempts to avoid the geotrauma all around them, material escaping itself, "Trauma is a body". Human consciousness is parasitic and is suicidal towards the cosmos, our manipulation of the cosmos is a trauma reaction, the Freudian death drive.

Im trying lol, it's written like a CCRU document from the Landian universe. The premise is largely that consciousness as we think of it isn't really what's happening, and that our spinal and nervous system is a product of an unending evolutionary chain of "geotraumas".
