I know this version translates instead of transliterates the Greek and Hebrew, but they should also translate and transliterate the Canaanite too. It reads different when x begot y from Beth-El, makes it sound like just a place but it's ancient Canaanite for House of God, so a temple is implies. Babylon (Bābilim, bab-el) "gate of god", it makes it clear the early characters believed in the Canaanite pantheon

Genesis 38:8 is a fascinating verse about family responsibility, and Yahweh's disapproval of the pull out method, I believe. Or idk I need to put this down for a bit, it's all a but fire and brimstone for the first quarter
