I think my audiobook glitched and skipped a whole chunk of like 15-20%, but somehow I didn’t notice and wasn’t confused at all until they mentioned doing something I didn’t remember 💀 maybe the missions are… a little repetitive

Continuing my journey to read T. kingfisher’s entire backlog this year, I’ve finally gotten to the YA books I’ve been putting off

This book is doing a crazy job of keeping me RIGHT on the line between kinda interested and actually invested. Just nonstop: “huh, ok, that’s kinda neat, I guess I’d like to see where that’s going” but not actually locking in.

Ok I like this,,, but I feel like this whole knight arrangement makes literally no sense and it’s challenging my suspension of disbelief lol. “Hey enemies, yeah you can come into our country, but only if we appoint you to super important positions protecting us and also you won’t get any training to do it” ???

Oops this comes out in two days and the audiobook is 20 hours long…. I will not be finishing this arc before publication lol

Ruby Dixon’s writing is generally terrible, but every now and then she really takes my breath away when she hits me with something like: “His words hurt me. Painfully so.” Girl I had to put the book down for a minute 😭
