I like the way this book has different tales going on. I could probably take the time to start over and read in to more details..
Rainbows End was my first V.V. novel, and im seeing writing similarities and writing strengths showing itself in a huge undertaking, one I may want to focus on when I'm not reading other works. I just don't read enough to pay this the respect due.
easy reading though. excited to read it

The universe this story expresses is wholly magical; a full spectrum of possibilities. Fantasy of a universe anyone could work in. much like elves and dwarfs, the structure has been laid, and if someone were to bring A New Sun themselves -elsewhere, there would be little contempt for trying. As the Story progresses, details & layers make up a story of grandeur.
Critics get lost in the garden, missing an epic unique.

Reading more of severian's life from wherever he writes from, is bizarre and dreamy, and always thick with antics the author plays on the reader and their memory and ideas in a pacing fashion.
It oddly to me has that loose murder mystery woven into something flabber-gastingly epic & yet to blossom..... Or that's the feeling im having..
Gene Wolfe always has things about his writing, that saves me & heals with time

First C.S Lewis novel... I heard a long while ago to maybe begin with this one if I were to dive into Narnia novels.. So I've read up to the point where they have the meeting of animals.
Apart from my lack of enthusiasm in reading for the story, the novel has neat concepts and styles.
I have no gift in writing novels. Reading this C.S Lewis novel leads me to believe I can create my own.. also stories & ideas differ

Still in the thick of sword and citadel, I found the prologue perplexing and difficult to read. after the first chapter i sat it down, and reread the prologue again, and I may one more before getting into a fit of reading it. Some ideas come at you hard and with many bits to them quite quickly... In the difficult sense, this novel will be fun to read.

I'm glad i read Rainbow's End years ago, should be prepared...

amazing how the book comes together. some weird feelings and ideas reading this one. mesmerizing at times, perfectly written statements and things grip you and leave you to think. Theclas part and the mystery in reading her throughout. the magic in the machines and the alien tech and beyond is enjoyable. the altered races that appear as slaves/creations/visitors.
It can be a hard read at times, but I walk the swamp.

As the third book wraps up It confuses, connects, changes your thoughts about Severian, and the followup appendix does it once more over. I set the book down, and decided to pick it up when I get in to the mood for this to startup again. Its complexity is beautiful and difficult, it was tough reading the last couple chapters, deciphering things etc... Brilliant Gene, Blessings R.I.P <3

For me to get into a reading spell, I have to get a few pages in, and even then sometimes I'm not captivated. However, I get into the mid part of this book, and I start turning page after page. Sentences jump out in their beauty.
The movie and it's imagery although beautiful and add to the conceptualizing of moments in the novel, haunt me as my brain compares the book to the motion picture. its a blessing & curse..

And through the mines of Moria the Fellowship travel.
I'm slightly annoyed when I read the story, I use the movie as a memory, and the journey through the mines is vastly different written than other parts adapted to film were.
Not upset by the film, recollection is a part of the human condition. But as they travel, I pick up richer details within, as the setting of the mine is better written

The Ring Heads South.
As I read this now, older and more read, and with the memory of the movies always invasive on my concept of middle earth. There is a grayness that sets in once they leave the shire. A slow gloominess. It took me a bit to get past some chapters, mainly because of the thick story unfolding, and im not a daily reader. But the chunks I read in, are filled with thoughts and wondrous ideas of M.E.

This is an undertaking whether you like it or not, to be taken in greater stride for a greater benefit and to remember more ideas laid out, and to smother yourself with ideas for change, instead of sporadic selfhelp. Feeling what I've done reading intermittently does not due this book justice. There is something to be said about long immersion

Because at the end of the day. I live by "the efforts&failures = reward"

He's able to pick up writing a new book, and nail it. Maybe some criticisms are in his style of writing, but It's never a mash of half ass ideas. He pulls off unique characters and story, and narration from book to book, anything that changes is with his deliberate intentions.
Always when i read Gene Wolfe, the idea of a dishonest narrator echos in the back of my mind. It makes a reader explore things under the hood

Basically purchased this for Fifth Head of Cerberus. I was a captivated by the story.

All three stories so far have been an enjoyment to read.
The Island of Dr.Death unravels itself in pieces, and then looking back it all the pieces seems to gel.
Toy Theater had a neat concept.

Because of the variety in these three, and the other novels I've read, I'm amped to read the rest.
