amazing how the book comes together. some weird feelings and ideas reading this one. mesmerizing at times, perfectly written statements and things grip you and leave you to think. Theclas part and the mystery in reading her throughout. the magic in the machines and the alien tech and beyond is enjoyable. the altered races that appear as slaves/creations/visitors.
It can be a hard read at times, but I walk the swamp.

As the third book wraps up It confuses, connects, changes your thoughts about Severian, and the followup appendix does it once more over. I set the book down, and decided to pick it up when I get in to the mood for this to startup again. Its complexity is beautiful and difficult, it was tough reading the last couple chapters, deciphering things etc... Brilliant Gene, Blessings R.I.P <3

He's able to pick up writing a new book, and nail it. Maybe some criticisms are in his style of writing, but It's never a mash of half ass ideas. He pulls off unique characters and story, and narration from book to book, anything that changes is with his deliberate intentions.
Always when i read Gene Wolfe, the idea of a dishonest narrator echos in the back of my mind. It makes a reader explore things under the hood
