So far, an interesting consideration of how college sport led to standardization not only in the ball, but in other aspects of the sport.

This is a compelling read and the first book I have read of this series- it is considered book 3 in the ReVisioning American History Series. The other books include A Queer History of the United States, A Disability History of the United States, An African American and Latinx History of the United States, A Black Women's History of the United States, and An Afro-Indigenous History of the United States.

Two stories in and the horror blends so well with raw emotions that each story blends to remind us of the terror that is being human with all our foibles, needs, and, yes, ability to be dastardly and dark to one another. Well done.

I am enjoying this on a few levels. Poetically structured and beautifully chaotic - somehow invocative of a noirish western and a fairy tale thus far.

Somewhere between Labyrinth, Hightower's Crossroads, Supernatural, and the Twilight Zone... enjoying it

A fine mix so far, from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's fantastic and very British flyer to the transport of children's bodies on a military plane, the stories strike different tones, but I am enjoying the ride thus far.

Another "Book Club" read along with my children. This book has some interesting layers about labels and perceptions already.

A friend convinced me to try the podcast and I was rather hooked. The Amazon series, especially the first season, was also compelling. So far, if either of those compelled you, you will enjoy this on some level - at least I have... thus far.

Reading this with my children as part of our shared reading experience. So far, it has been compelling enough to keep us all going - and with kids as varied in interest and dedication as mine are, that's an achievement.

My father told me something I carry with me and that is, "If you find that you are the smartest man in the room, you owe it to yourself to move to another room." I am glad I found myself, through this work, in Jabari Asim's room, so to speak. So far, I found myself jotting notes on authors, considering things to review to inform classes and teaching, and more. Maybe not a flawless set of essays, but an important one.

Definitely a work that benefits from having the voice of both parents. Griffith's humor shines through while Travis-Griffin presents a notable and important perspective outside of what many such works would present. Engaging thus far.

So far, this has been a fascinating, humorous, and engaging in its consideration of those who earned a better obituary than history has given them. Enjoying also the references to other books I need to check out as well.

A compelling read - already intertwining the "Why study and pursue this?" question with the analysis of the crimes and the mind behind those crimes. Hard to put down!

As the dialogue and reflections continue, the dysfunctionality becomes more apparent, which is fitting for this book.

Harlan Ellison was a phenomenal story teller, from short and zippy works like one of my favorites, EcoWareness, to his heavily touted (justifiably) and well known I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream . It is a short story author that he is awarded, but for those who love works like Harlan Ellison's Watching, The Glass Teat, etc., this seems to be a treat worth pursuing. Loving the flow of his essays thus far.

All Grown Up was a work that captured my attention as a work, so I wanted to follow it up with this one. About a sixth of the way in, Attenberg has solidly established a tone and a flow in this one. One thing I appreciate is that the environment is well established... the heat almost becomes an oppressive observing character in its own right - ever present and complicating the experiences of the other characters.
