What? This book is an ode to men acting badly and the women who back them up because they have money. He gets away with murder because …his wife thinks he’s justified in being angry?!?!? Because she can’t bear to go back to working for a living? The book upset me but it’s blatant sexism and acceptance of violence by men, against women.

Everett’s comments and insistence on Angel taking more time off from her job to go with him to Europe reminds me how some people (men as a group) do not think about other people (women asa group) when it comes to their comfort and convenience. Of course she can ask for more time off!

Recommended by NPR. So far so good.

I mean, good enough. But that is really the extent of it. I enjoyed reading it. I didn’t hate it.
