This book is a slog sadly. The author is more interested in showing the reader that he's done his research than he is in telling a compelling story

Why is she so dumb? 4 books of deception and she's still believing every call for help that comes her way 🤦🏻‍♀️

Word soup. The author overdid it on making up names for stuff. It was too hard to swim through the random words to find the story

This book just feels like words on a page. It's doesn't draw me in, it isn't vivid at all. It's just very "he did this, he said that"

Yikes!

Yikes. The audio narrator is leaving weird pauses in the middle of sentences and the writing comes across like two grown adults getting horny over memories of 17yo kids. This second chance romance refresh should have stayed in the past.

I hate when authors do that thing where their character alludes to some big secret or controversy from their past, but keep it from the reader for some imagined pay off later in the story. 4 times so far we've referenced the "terrible thing" that mom did to put them in need of a magic school. Just tell me what it is. I guarantee the surprise isn't going to be worth the wait

This audiobook would have benefited from multiple narrators. It feels like a run on sentence.

I really wanted to like this book. I thought from the opening that I was going to, but I'm bored and I just don't want to read it anymore

"it's been 3 weeks since our baby died, it's time to get over it and focus on me now"

This does not feel cozy. The focus on her creepy boyfriend and his controlling nature is coming across way more like I'm reading a true crime story than a cozy magical murder series.

This book is like reading It's A Wonderful Life. The vibes are impeccable.

This is so much better than I was expecting. So unique

The publishers of this book are doing it a disservice comparing it to Legend & Lattes and The Spellshop. This is a book built more for the fans of books like That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon, or Minotaur Milking Farm. It's a cozy fantasy sex story. Comparing it to popular closed door cozy fantasies where the romance is a side plot at best is not going to draw the right audiences.

It shouldn't take 4 chapters for the story to get interesting

This isn't cozy fantasy. It's a YA chosen one fantasy romance where they meet in a coffee shop. Nothing about it feels cozy.

This book is honestly sort of tedious and I find the styling of the chapters as "episodes" to be kind of pretentious. If you want to write kdramas then write one.

Why is this book so boring? It's just a generic rich man/poor girl romance dressed up with dragons which could easily be replaced with dogs and nothing would substantially change.

This book is not nearly as compelling as the first one

There's so much needlessly detailed reference to a past that doesn't exist on page. And none of it really explains why this widowed, recently fired woman wouldn't be happy to move back home and take up the family business. Okay, your mom was evil, but you aren't and neither are all your friends so what is the issue?

Yeah, no. This book spends too much time on the darkness and abuse. It takes too long to start getting to found family and healing. I might skip to the end to see how it all sorts out, but the reading of it is making me anxious and it is an absolutely gross choice to give us chapters in the POV of the abusive murderer. I don't want to be in that man's mind getting his Tragic Backstory™

Oh joy, a book entirely based on the themes of misogyny, racism, religious bigotry, and white feminism. With an unpleasant female lead. Seriously, you have to give me SOMETHING to cling to if you want me to read it. The plot sure isn't compelling enough to do it.
