My poor Julia :’( I find myself having personal beef with her mom because she’s SO hard on her!!! 😔😔 Even if the book doesn’t completely talk about her parents background, I mean knowing that they’re undocumented immigrants, I can see how that trauma of crossing the border affects people and shapes them to become very protective. But damn let my girl live!!

It’s very disheartening to see Julia’s mom be so against her, it upsets me very much even though she’s not my mom 😭 This makes me realize that a lot parents want to accomplish their dreams & fulfillments through their children and as bad as it sounds, that just isn’t going to work out. This problem is mainly seen in collectivist culture, like Mexico.

Oooohhhhhh lord have mercy fuck Julia’s family (atm) !!! She’s just trying to get by 😭😭😭😭😭

How ironic of me starting this book today and I get into an argument with my dad …. Now I finished three chapters with the feeling of beating up my dad 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
