The Circassian language is of the NW Caucasian language family which includes Abkhaz-Abaza and the extinct bridge language Ubykh. Circassian is divided into two dialects, Eastern (Kabardey, Besleney) and Western (Abzakh, Bzedugh, Shapsug, etc.). These are further divided into sub dialects based on locality/towns in both homeland and diaspora. In standard Kabardian and Adigean, there are 57 and 50 letters respectively

"This code did not remain static throughout the ages. It was reformed and developed at some points in Circassian history, when two factors obtained: preponderance of outdated practices and the appearance of a charismatic personage to effect the transformation. The first instance of this kind in recorded history was in the 16th century, when Prince Beslan Zhanx'wetoqwe, nicknamed 'Pts'apts'e'b (The Obese), modified the structure of the peerage system and updated the Xabze"
There are also the aspects of Adigaghe (Circassianism - the qualities of 'being' Circassian) and the wider Adet (the law that regulated relations between the different peoples of the North Caucasus). I think it would be more accurate the characterize Xabze more broadly as a worldview, it's much more intricate than simply the collection of customs and etiquettes. It contained practices of religious rituals, invocations, and metaphysical beliefs regarding the afterlife and the mythology of the Narts prior to developments arising from interactions with monotheistic traditions of Christanity and Islam, especially after the expulsion by Russia in the 19th cent.
