A seventh grader can’t skip school without everyone being alerted. My kid was in school and miscounted once and I got a text, an email and a phone call and so did my husband. The alarm was raised until she was found in her seat in class.

This feels nostalgic to cheesy 1990s Harlequins, mainly because it is a cheesy 1990s Harlequin that the author is reissuing. She says she updated it but people are using cameras and talking about brochures when today people would have cell phones and talk about social media campaigns.

Hmmm. The author is Canadian but set her story in Montana but has them making butter tarts. It’s either an easter egg or she’s unaware. Next they’ll be noshing on Nanaimo bars.
It’s kind of like a mini pecan pie but without pecans and usually with rum soaked raisins.
