“One Mile” is perhaps one of the most devastating chapters written in a book and it would not hit nearly as hard without everything that has come before it.

Slowly but surely…

I think the part I’m up to is one of the emotional cruxes of the book - Robert Moses builds a road through Sunset Park that essentially kills the neighbourhood, and he never cares despite ruining people’s lives.

The slow, inexorable march continues. Still good!

So far this is a book about how, through cheating, lying, and general nastiness, the guy in charge of the parks became the most powerful political force in New York city for almost half a century.

This book is fantastic but I think it physically hurts my back to take to work in my bag

I physically can’t hold this book for long periods of time.
