finished chapter 30... ending couldve been more fleshed out... some of the plot still left hanging. couldve gone into blesilda's future more. still really good book

why is it that despite the cruelties committed by the spanish friars, roman catholicism is the prominent religion in the phils? even with how the spaniards enforced their religion on the filipinos, they didn't grow resentful towards the church?
