This middle grade book should
not be making me feel so much

Why does this middle grade book make me want to sob

“That file means I have no chance in life, none. They’ve already determined that I will fail.”

The Stasi was doing all that?! I knew they were bad but holy moly

“He was digging.
Papa wanted me to dig.”

It is still chilling to me to think about how many people tried to cross the wall in just that way and were killed.

I’m sure the book will have a happy ending and the family will be reunited, but I worry what obstacles they’ll face trying to do this.
