Kinda crazy how representations and interpretations of queerness have changed throughout history but gay bars have been the same for so long. Like cross culturally, across nations, the space of a gay bar itself holds the same meaning and importance to the community. Kinda cool

Book has been a great historical record of queer spaces, reality of the loneliness of queer identity, and the reality that the gay club is at time the only 'safe space' that gay men have. But what happens when your only safe space is focused on sex, drugs, partying, and promiscuity. Great exploration of gay identity's intimate relationship with nightlife and clubbing culture. Cant wait to finish.
