Book1, Life in the North: Hmm. I don't know why I thought The System Apocalypse was The Way of Kings of LitRPG. But this was disappointing. Especially because I read it right after An Ideal World for a Sociopath. Same setup, totally different stories though. The soul-searching at the end was nauseatingly uncomfortable.

Sure, it's the end of the world and the MC is struggling to process his emotions but somehow I can't sympathize. I judge him for not being able to read the room. For being a lucky bumbling idiot. And for not even being good at locking away his emotions. Do I judge him specifically or am I judging myself by proxy? *sigh* Give me more megalomanic bastards and less... less of me. I don't wanna read about myself. I want escapism, enjoyment, comic relief, gallows humor.
