Queensguard and special mage lesbians running away to open a tea slash book shop? Yes please!! I'm not expecting too airtight and/or intricate worldbuilding but I'm ready to be surprised. I'm sure I'll have to keep my inner critic in check to buy the odd convenience/contrivance ("But palace guards didn't *wear* armour, except for ceremonial purposes." ????? I-?? ExCUSE ME???) but it's got potential to be really cute.

Surprisingly highstakes for a cozy fantasy. On one hand I'm glad because I've noticed in the past how I can have problems with too little plot, on the other hand I'm not sure if this book is up for delivering on that in a satisfying manner. I'll withhold judgement for now. Definitely still enjoying it.

Some clichéd characterisation I'm not a big fan of is my biggest complaint so far (i.e. the dutiful one completely overdoing it to the point of severe medical problems while sick or injured because they thought they could handle it my beloathed), otherwise it's cute and lowstakes. Maybe a bit shallow but it's a silly little gay romance and that's pretty much all that I want from it.
