If you buy into the emotional caverns that this book has to explore- it is beautiful. The writing sometimes can be a bit heightened, but I’d argue that I would love to see more books try to push into the heightened but accessible territory that Vuong does. The feelings are real, if at times much, as a young boy navigates the complicated world around him- isn’t that life?
