Picked this book back up I love Bloom but Im often lost in what he is trying to say: Hawthorns genius confounds expectation not by design but because it obeys the morality of storytelling and not of history, society and what one era calls nature. Hester pryne is the outcast of Boston, but hardly the universe.
This sounds deep but what the heck does it mean. Still these insights(?) from a deep reader is why i love HB
