We’re following Eden, aka Edy, she’s a 14 year old freshman in highschool. She has an older brother Caelin who’s in college. He has a best friend named Kevin who’s very close w the family, comes home w caelin when he visits from school.

Edys is breaking down in her room after police leave. She calls Josh over & over but can’t say anything. He answers every singe time 🥺 eventually he realizes it’s her, they talk for awhile, she apologizes for how she treated him & tells him she always cared abt him. She hangs up after, he gets rlly worried that she’s gonna hurt herself- drives all the way there in the middle of the night to make sure she’s okay. They go to a restaurant to talk, he tells her he always knew she wasn’t okay, asks if there’s a reason - she finally tells him, can’t say the actual work, has to write it down, but she does it- she finally tells someone.
He takes her back to the car, she tells him who it was. He is livid, upset with himself for not realizing it sooner, wants to kill Kevin. Tells Edy he wishes she told him back then, Edy is just relieved he believes her, she was so afraid no one would..
When Edy goes home she tells Caelin. He can’t process it, he destroys his room smashing everything, he can’t bring himself to accept it at first. After he calms down he brings her to the police station where she tells them everything.
She calls Amanda to apologize, we learn Kevin told Amanda he was sleeping w Edy so she’d think it was normal, took advantage of the fact that Amanda looked up to Edy, thought if she believed Edy wanted to do those things w Kevin she would too…his own sister…so that’s why Amanda hated Edy- she believed Kevin too.
We end the book w Edy coming to terms w things, even thinking abt rekindling relationships by explaining what she went through. She finds her hope again.
Her & Josh don’t end up together :(
The next day Mara is all giddy cause she lost her virginity, she’s suprised when Edy isn’t happy for her, doesn’t even realize she forgot her bday, starts accusing Edy of being jealous & slut shames her before Edy storms off. Ignores her apologies when she finally does realize she forgot her bday.
When they do make up, Mara, her bf Cameron, his friend Steve & Edy all go to a college party. Steve, is her date, Mara set them up, Edy isn’t into him at all.
Edy asks Steve to grab her a drink, while she’s waiting another dude approaches her, very clearly just wants sex- she wants the same, just meaningless hookups so she can loose herself for a little while.
They go into an empty room belonging to a random girl, start taking their clothes off. Meanwhile Caelin is at the party, he’s abt to hook up w the girl that room belongs to- walks in on Edy!!
He starts freaking out, drags her outta there, she breaks down, starts snapping on him, he leaves & Edy breaks down in front of everyone before they silently drive her home.
Everyone stops talking to Edy after that except for Mara, who tries telling her that something is wrong w her & she’s worried, literally starts crying & Edy just walks away…
Edy is arguing w her mom, wants to get away so she asks Steve to hang. He invites her over even tho she did him rlly dirty at the party, he wants to show her his photography room, he’s super genuine & just wants to hang w her. He reminds her of Josh..she can’t handle missing him so she tries hooking up w Steve & pretending it’s Josh. Steve just kisses her, doesn’t wanna rush into physical stuff, which just makes her think of Josh more. She has a full blown break down, he chases her down the street trying to comfort her while she cries but she screams at him to leave her alone, they agree to talk tomorrow & she leaves…
The next day Cameron shows up at edys, curses her out for what she did to Steve.
In school Mara tells her she can’t sit w them anymore. Steve tried talking to Edy but can’t get through to her, tells her that them hooking up meant something to him- she tells him it meant nothing to her. He starts crying..tells her she’s a slut & he’s stupid for thinking otherwise. She’s rlly hurt, also sad she hurt him cause she knows he doesn’t deserve it.
Amanda, Kevin’s sister, tries being nice to Edy but she’s like no fuck that, wants to know why Amanda has always hated her….its cause Kevin told her that they hooked up…Edy freaks out, says she fucking hates Kevin & she’ll kill her if she hears her tell anyone else that lie- goes complete psycho on her then goes home crying, locks herself in her room for the next day.
Edy is woken up by her families voices, Caelins too & he’s supposed to be at school…she goes out to find out that Kevin got arrested for rape! He raped his fucking girlfriend. They broke up & she came over just to talk, he ended up assaulting her, she reported the incident 2 days later.
Caelin slut shames her!!!!! Says he doesn’t believe Kevin would do anything like that, is very defensive abt it! Edy is disgusted, can’t take that shit.
The police show up to question Edy…Amanda told them after her outburst that she may have more info on Kevin. Edy can’t get it out tho, literally passes out when the cop asks if Kevin ever assaulted her.
