At a pivotal point in time for Malcolm becomes less engaged with the white people around him after a visit to Boston where for the first time he is surrounded by those of his likeness. Malcolm still respectful, but now less inclined to be integrated into white society leaves those of Michigan to ponder over his change and eventually send him away. Quickly Malcolm moves to Boston and attributes it to a pivotal point.
