Well, now that we have met many of David's teachers from when he was a kid/teen, it's not THAT surprising anymore that he's arrogant in a lot of ways. Amazing, rather, that he seems down-to-earth (enough) in many other ways. *lol*
I liked the description of the kibbutz he went to as a teenager although it brought tears to my eyes for contemporary socio-political reasons.

You know, reading how David only had 7,95$ and almost gave up before making it, only to have him whine about really great apartments just because one was supposedly too dark while the other was too bright - all while seeing photographs of them - drives home how bitchy, kinda ungrateful and how much of a diva he is. Makes me want to strangle him!

Yes, it's cool to be able to say you went to Julliard. But this myth around the school os so annoying! It is NOT the best music school. It's not even the best music school in the US. It certainly has good PR and does a lot for the arts; and yes, a lot of the big names went to Julliard. But by far not all big names. And considering how much this place costs, I'd expect way more in return!

Garrett just proved to be quite arrogant. No idea if it was meant to be funny but if so, he UTTERLY failed in conveying that on the page. He dissed other instruments as being oh-so simple to learn, claiming only the violin is difficult. I get that one is a champion for one's own instrument, but how he talked about the flute for example was simply terrible. My sister would have thrown this book against a wall.

No, I'm not a fan of HIS (I don't do stuff like screeching and crying and throwing underwear onto the stage) and the violin is NOT my favorite instrument (not even my second-favorite).
However, he's been hyped as a Wunderkind/child prodigy forever and pretty much hates the wording / what it means in peoples' heads as much as I do.
Plus, I'm currently reading my friend's thesis on work addiction so this is fitting! ;P
