First they write there is a great chasm between humanism and averroism, then they talk about the “naturalistic humanism of the Aristotelians”. But these Aristotelians are the Averroists of France and northern Italy. They contrast the Italian and the more French Averroists so it may be supposed only the French are at odds with humanism but then they describe Pomponazzi in the middle of that section.
