It’s not very often that I decide to pick up a book, even less a interview/essay book. But recently I had watched a video on YouTube about the Tokyo subway attacks and saw that Murakami was listed as one of the sources for the video. I never finished Kafka on the shore but his prose left an impression in me. So far what I’m seeing from the interviews the book presents have been very gripping so far.

Highlighting this victim because he’s the first one so far to call out the Japanese people too. All this time I’ve been thinking like damn if they were a bit more proactive and less passive less people would’ve gotten hurt and he literally just said that. Also the lack of a good response from the police and government is shocking. Really bad situation.

Really did not expect to be pissed off at the victims but I kinda do feel pissed off. I’m guessing this is a culture thing but why are so many of the people so stubborn omg. Also them reaching the hospital screaming “I can’t see” and the person in charge saying “this isn’t and eye clinic” omg kys

Wasn’t planning on reading much but man the Akashi siblings interviews were really gripping. Loved the way Murakami wrote for the sister’s part.

Really interesting reactions from the people who were affected. It’s weird that they all kinda had similar stories about waking up a bit earlier than usual or running a little late. Also the apparent “whatever” attitude most of them have towards Aum is really fascinating. Maybe it’s a culture thing but I would’ve made it my mission to destroy that organization lol.
