The African American hope paradox is super intriguing and fits with my personal observations. One of the reasons I read so much Black history is that I'm obsessed with resiliency, and you find it with oppression. I've often wondered if that strong spirit of resiliency can't NOT be the result of centuries of genocide sorting out only the most resilient and hopeful genes for survival. This is fascinating.
